September 6, 2021: Labor Day in the United States. In the US, Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September. It became a federal holiday in 1894 to add a holiday in the long gap between Independence Day in July and Thanksgiving in November. Many families use the long weekend to take a last summer trip.
