Located in Key West, Fort Zachary Taylor was built between 1845 and 1866 and it predates the Civil War and is a National Historic Monument housing the largest cache of Civil War armament in the world. Fort Taylor also gives a better understanding of how soldiers lived as they defended the nation’s southeastern coastline.
