This is an unofficial holiday observed to encourage bibliophiles to celebrate reading and literature. · National Rice Pudding Day.......is a holiday that is used to celebrate a dessert that's considered to be very basic but is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world.n

In India, rice pudding (known as kheer) is a staple food that potentially dates back as far as 6000 BCE, as it was included in the Ancient Indian diet prescribed by Ayurveda, an ancient alternative health regime. However, many early rice puddings did not resemble the sweet dessert we think of today.

This is it: the classic, creamy stovetop rice pudding recipe. Simmer raw rice with milk and brown sugar...........

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups (600 ml) of whole milk

  • 1/3 cup (66 grams) of uncooked short grain white rice

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup (50 grams) dark brown sugar
