To celebrate and preserve the social-cultural and natural history of Sulphur Springs, a community that helped shape Tampa, Florida and Spring Hill, its historically African American neighbor; to educate and empower adults and youth about history, both locally and across the state of Florida while promoting a clean, safe environment for the neighborhood.
Ray Charles had a connection to Tampa. After graduating high school he found his way to Tampa Bay and started playing at clubs on Central Avenue. Ray Charles wasn't the only one to build their chops down here Ella Fitzgerald and Cab Calloway made their history down here.
