Just Above the Water: Florida Folk Art
January 21 - March 31st 2018
This exhibit, from the Florida Museum of History, Tallahassee, includes informational panels on the works and lives of 35 Florida folk artists, showing their artistic visions, inspired by community traditions and everyday working and living environments.
In addition, our museum offers a rare opportunity to see original art pieces from the late Taft Richardson, legendary bone sculptor of Sulphur Springs, and Kenny Dickerson, who worked with Richardson at Moses House, the community arts organization that was once housed in Mann-Wagnon Park, Sulphur Springs.
During the exhibit, we host:
Community Lecture Series
Sundays, 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Community lectures will feature refreshments and opportunities to win special prices.
Saturday Family Events
The Folk Arts Program is made possible through a grant from the Florida Humanities Council.
